You did not say if he was traveling for business or pleasure. Why the need for 400.00? Did the airline not honor his cancelation due to accident and replace the ticket? Have you checked with the credit card company which was used to book flight arrangements to determine if there may have been some free travel/accident insurance coverage? Do you or spouse have triple A coverage which might also provide some financial reimbursement of loss due to travel accident? Research - travel to and from airport part of travel covered.
